|Wang Yong Attends Video Talk between Chairs of Yangtze-Volga Council of Cooperation|
On October 14, 2020, State Councilor Wang Yong and Igor Komarov, Russia's Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District, co-chaired the video talk between Chairs of the Council of Cooperation between the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the Volga Federal District.
Wang Yong said that led by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relationship has reported steady progresses. Both countries give supports and assistances to each other and add strategic implications to China-Russia relationship in the new era. Since the third meeting of the Yangtze-Volga Council of Cooperation, the two regions celebrate good economic and trade cooperation and have registered great outcomes. For the next phase, both regions should implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state on the positioning of China-Russia relations in the new era and promoting local cooperation. Efforts should be made to improve the cooperation mechanisms, reform cooperation approaches, enhance cooperation in pandemic control and resumption of work, deepen cooperation in industrial resources and other sectors, elevate the level of financial integration and intensify humanistic exchange, in order to bring the cooperative relation between the two regions to a higher level.
Komarov highly commended China's strategic outcomes made in the pandemic control and the favorable progresses in the regional cooperation. He said Russia is willing to join hands with China to help the two regions achieve more results in pragmatic cooperation on economy, trade, investment, humanistic exchange, fight against the COVID-19 and other fields.
Leaders of Hunan and Sichuan Provinces and Republic of Tatarstan and Orenburgskaya Oblast attended the video talk and exchanged views on strengthening sub-national cooperation.
