2019-07-30

On July 30, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi of Indonesia in Bangkok, Thailand.

Wang Yi said, the Chinese side attaches importance to Indonesia's global status and role. The two countries, as friendly neighbors, share broad prospects for cooperation. President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo reached new important consensus during their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Osaka Summit. We are willing to work with Indonesia in preparation for high-level exchanges of the two countries in the next phase and elevate bilateral cooperation to a new high. As this year's Foreign Ministers' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation is coming soon, the Chinese side is willing to work with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Indonesia, to unite as one, strengthen cooperation and focus on Asia including East Asia, so as to jointly facilitate regional prosperity and stability.

Retno Marsudi said, Indonesia stands ready to work with the Chinese side to intensify high-level exchanges and enhance political mutual trust, in a bid to push bilateral relations for steady development. President Joko Widodo looks forward to visiting China and attending the second China International Import Expo.
