Li Keqiang Sends a Congratulatory Message to Newly-appointed Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom (UK)

On July 24, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang sent a message to Boris Johnson, congratulating him on his assuming office as UK Prime Minister.

In the congratulatory message, Li Keqiang noted, China-UK relations have maintained a good momentum of growth in general in recent years. The two sides have maintained frequent high-level exchanges and achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields. I appreciated Prime Minister Boris Johnson's active commitment to deepening bilateral relations when you served as Foreign Secretary and Mayor of London.

Li Keqiang expressed, the Chinese side attaches importance to developing its relations with the UK. On the basis of mutual respect and equality, I am willing to make joint efforts with Prime Minister Boris Johnson to deepen political mutual trust between both countries, expand practical cooperation in various fields, push for the steady development of China-UK relations in the general direction of the "Golden Era", and make contributions to safeguarding multilateralism and free trade as well as building an open world economy.
