Wang Qishan Meets with Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan
2019-04-28

On April 27, 2019, Vice President Wang Qishan met with Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Wang Qishan said that Pakistan is the only all-weather strategic cooperative partner of China. The two sides enjoy a profound foundation of friendship, solid political mutual trust, close high-level exchanges and extensive cooperation fields. As a major pioneering project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has achieved important early outcomes. The second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) was held successfully, providing new opportunities for the development and prosperity of various countries. China-Pakistan relations have always been a privileged direction of China's neighboring diplomacy. It is hoped that both sides will continue to well implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, enhance all-round cooperation and exchanges as well as mutual learning between civilizations, and make China-Pakistan relations more substantive and result-oriented in the new era.

Imran Khan congratulated on the successful holding of the second BRF. With a big scale, the BRI covers extensive areas and has huge influence. The Pakistani side stands ready to join hands with the Chinese side in well building the CPEC, an important project of the BRI, to constantly elevate Pakistan-China relations to new stages.
