Wang Yi: China Opposes Power Politics and Fears No Coercion
2021-09-27 19:44

On September 27, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi exchanged views with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia on the international community's joint resistance to power politics and bullying during the phone conversation between the two sides.

Felix Plasencia said that Venezuela strongly opposes any unilateral sanctions against Chinese individuals and enterprises. The Venezuelan side is inspired and gratified by China's firm stance concerning the case of Meng Wanzhou.

Wang Yi stressed that China always opposes power politics and fears no coercion. The Chinese government's position on protecting its citizens' legitimate rights and interests is unswerving and uncompromising. The politically motivated arbitrary detention of citizens of other countries out of false excuses constitutes out-and-out coercion and bullying, and poses blatant challenges to international rules and human conscience. In today's 21st Century, such behavior shall not be left unchecked. We believe that more countries will come forward, as China did, to firmly oppose all forms of illegal unilateral sanctions, long-arm jurisdiction and political framing, jointly uphold international fairness and justice, and safeguard the basic norms governing international relations.
