Wang Yi Meets with New DPRK's Ambassador to China Ri Ryong Nam

On May 27, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with new Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to China Ri Ryong Nam in Beijing.

Wang Yi welcomes the ambassador to take up his new post in China. Wang Yi said, China and the DPRK are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers. The traditional friendship between the two countries was forged and nurtured with blood by the older generations of our leaders in the joint fight against foreign aggression, and it is a valuable asset that should be cherished by the two sides. In recent years, under the strategic guidance and personal commitment of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, the China-DPRK relationship has entered a new historical period, fully demonstrating the solid foundation and vitality of the traditional friendship. China has always viewed its relationship with the DPRK from a strategic perspective and deepened friendship and cooperation from a long-term perspective. China is willing to work with the DPRK to implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two parties and two countries, cement traditional friendship, advance the progress of the China-DPRK relations with the times, thus better benefiting the two peoples, and making positive contributions to the regional peace and stability.

Wang Yi emphasized, China stands ready to maintain high-level strategic communication with the DPRK, actively promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields, jointly hold events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and the DPRK, and strengthen coordination and collaboration in regional and international affairs. China firmly supports the DPRK in developing its economy and improving people's livelihood, and is willing to provide the DPRK with more assistance within its capacity. Both China and the DPRK adhere to leadership of the communist party and are committed to socialism. China stands ready to enhance the sharing of experience in the governance of political parties and state affairs with the DPRK to promote continuous development of the socialist cause.

Ri Ryong Nam said, the DPRK congratulates on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, speaks highly of the great achievements of China's cause of socialism, and expects China to achieve the grand goal of national rejuvenation under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core. Under the kind care of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, the DPRK-China relations have been elevated to a new height in recent years, which is in the fundamental interests of both sides. The DPRK values this very much. It is willing to work with China to jointly hold events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the DPRK and China to cement traditional friendship and boost win-win cooperation. In the process of jointly advancing the cause of socialism, the two countries will enhance solidarity and forge unbreakable friendship.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Korean Peninsula and agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation in this regard.
