Russian President Vladimir Putin Speaks with Yang Jiechi on the Phone

On May 25, 2021 local time, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi in Sochi during Yang's participation in the 16th round of China-Russia Strategic Security Consultation in Moscow.

Putin asked Yang Jiechi to convey his cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping. Putin said, Russia-China relations reach the best level in history, and it is vital for the two heads of state to maintain close communication. Russia is firmly committed to advancing Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination to higher level, and it will keep close strategic coordination and collaboration with China, defend multilateralism and contribute to global strategic stability.

Yang Jiechi conveyed President Xi's cordial greetings and message to President Putin. Yang said, under the personal attention and strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era has maintained a strong momentum of growth. The two sides firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, and set a good example of a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation, injecting valuable stability and positive energy into a turbulent and changing world. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia. China is ready to work with Russia to comprehensively implement our leaders' consensus, and work hard to deliver achievements through this Consultation, translating the high-level mutual trust into more fruitful outcomes of strategic coordination.

On the same day, Yang Jiechi and Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev co-chaired the 16th round of China-Russia Strategic Security Consultation, and exchanged in-depth views and reached broad consensus on China-Russia relations and a series of major issues concerning international security and strategic stability.
