2021-05-11 19:47

On May 11, 2021, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Vice Premier and Chinese President of China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee Han Zheng held a video meeting in Beijing with Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Turkmen President of China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee Serdar Berdymukhamedov and Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who are visiting China.

Han Zheng said that China and Turkmenistan are good brothers, good friends and good partners who enjoy sincere mutual trust. A few days ago, President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and future cooperation in various fields, which added strong impetus to China-Turkmenistan strategic partnership and charted the way forward. China-Turkmenistan relations have maintained a sound and stable momentum of development no matter how the international and regional situation has changed since the establishment of diplomatic ties nearly 30 years ago.

Han Zheng pointed out that China will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, accelerate the alignment of development strategies, and jointly promote cooperation in energy, agriculture, transportation, digital, aerospace, culture, security and other fields to bring more benefits to the two countries and people. The two sides could formulate a five-year cooperation plan, drawing a roadmap for further comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

Serdar Berdymukhamedov and Rashid Meredov extended congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, adding that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to its relations with China. Turkmenistan is willing to continue to explore new formats and areas of economic cooperation with China based on the principles of equality, mutual trust and mutual respect, and promote new and greater development of the Turkmenistan-China strategic partnership. They hope that a new round of meetings of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee will be held soon, to facilitate practical cooperation in relevant fields.

Responsible officials from Chinese and Turkmen government agencies of economy, trade, telecommunication, transportation and energy briefed on the cooperation in these fields and put forward suggestions of cooperation in the next stage.
