Xi Jinping Accepts Credentials from Newly-appointed Ambassadors to China

On the afternoon of April 14, 2021, President Xi Jinping accepted credentials from 29 newly-appointed ambassadors to China at the Great Hall of the People.

Beijing is bathed in bright sunshine in April. With guards of honor lining up on both sides outside the North Gate of the Great Hall of the People, the trumpeters blew the horns to greet the envoys.

The envoys walked up the steps of the white marble stairs and, in front of the giant painting "The Land So Rich in Beauty", presented credentials to Xi Jinping in succession, and extended cordial greetings from the leaders of their countries to President Xi Jinping.

These ambassadors to China are: Ambassador of Afghanistan to China Javid Ahmad Qaem, Ambassador of Greece to China Georgios Iliopoulos, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to China Tarik Bukvic, Ambassador of Madagascar to China Jean Louis Robinson, Ambassador of Italy to China Luca Ferrari, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to China Abrao Dos Santos, Ambassador of the Federated States of Micronesia to China KS (Vincent) Sivas, Ambassador of Sudan to China Gafar Karar Ahmed K., Ambassador of Mauritius to China Alain Wong Yen Cheong, Ambassador of Nepal to China Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Ambassador of Pakistan to China Moin Ul Haque, Ambassador of Moldova to China Dumitru Braghis, Ambassador of Denmark to China Thomas Oestrup Moeller, Ambassador of Belgium to China Jan Hoogmartens, Ambassador of Oman to China Nasser Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Gambia to China Masanneh Nyuku Kinteh, Ambassador of Tajikistan to China Saidzoda Zohir, Ambassador of the UK to China Caroline E. Wilson, Ambassador of Venezuela to China Felix Plasencia, Ambassador of Japan to China Tarumi Hideo, Ambassador of South Africa to China Siyabonga C. Cwele, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China Palitha Kohona, Ambassador of Belarus to China Senko Yury, Ambassador of Ireland to China Ann Derwin, Ambassador of Israel to China Irit Ben Abba, Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau to China Antonio Serifo Embalo, Ambassador of the DPRK to China Ri Ryong Nam, Ambassador of Iraq to China Shorsh Khalid Said, and Ambassador of Argentina to China Sabino Vaca Narvaja. The United Nations Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chatterjee presented the letter of appointment.

Xi Jinping asked the envoys to convey his good wishes to the leaders of their countries. He pointed out that over the past year, the Chinese people and the people of other countries have worked together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, writing a new chapter in the history of global friendly cooperation. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and it is also the first year for China to implement its 14th Five-Year Plan and embark on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country. China will firmly implement its new development philosophy and actively forge a new development paradigm so that its development will better benefit the people around the world. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, and the 20th anniversary of China's accession to the World Trade Organization. China stands ready to work with the rest of the world to firmly uphold multilateralism, safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, staunchly safeguard the multilateral trade system, firmly advance the construction of the global governance system, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The Beijing Winter Olympics will be held next year. We have confidence that with the active support and participation of all parties, we will overcome the impact of the pandemic and host the Games in a simple, safe, and excellent manner.

Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese people always cherish friendship and love peace, stand ready to deepen friendship, enhance mutual trust and expand cooperation with people from all countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefits, and jointly advance Belt and Road cooperation with high quality. He hopes that the envoys will make active contributions to the promotion of bilateral relations as well as the cooperation between the United Nations and China.
